August Traffic Committee Update

A small group met with Chief Engineer of Streets, Richard Montanez, to continue addressing list of concerns.

Rich Montanez agreed to follow up on the following:

He will contact Bruce Masi, PennDot, engineer and recommend synchronized traffic lights at Hermit St and Barnes St.

Streets Dept will “clear” parking on Quentin St, at the curve before Vicaris. (post “no parking” signs)

Clear parking between 274 & 298 Osborn driveways that open onto Lauriston. Emergency vehicles, snow plow, large trucks have been unable to get through if a car is parked in that spot.

Check on the schedule of line stripping in the neighborhood.  Neighborhood is now on list for 2017.

Install stop bars and crosswalk stripes at new 3-way stop on Righter St at Lauriston. The group felt that the stop signs were a significant safety improvement at that
intersection..and no need, at present, to clear a parking space in front of sign. Also sign announcing new 3-Way Stop ahead for Cook Wissahickon parents who will be
driving children to school.

Install rectangular rapid flashing beacon (RRFB) at Wissahickon Station on Ridge Ave. at bus stop/pedestrian crossing….

Check into new “markings” on Lauriston St that appeared after a 311 phone call by a neighbor…(?)

Several items need to be recommended through Councilman Jones. Suzanne Hagner will ask that Councilman Jones/Josh Cohen to push for City to resurface out streets…as new line stripping will adhere for years on new paving material. On current surface, only about 2 years.

Inquire with businesses across the street from Wiss train station if 3 hr parking for the block would be useful. Dave’s Barber Shop, new owners of T.Hogan’s ,laundromat,, etc.
